Research in this area focuses on
- exploring the diverse values of forests (timber and non-timber);
- finding methods to measure, analyze, and integrate these values directly
into the decision-making process;
- identifying social and economic indicators of sustainable development
and exploring the means to measure and monitor them;
- analyzing statistics and indicators of community sustainability; and
- examining policies that influence the use of forests and how these
policies contribute to the sustainability of communities.
