The Valiants Memorial is a national commemoration honouring 14 courageous individuals for their heroism during the five major periods of conflict and resolution that marked Canada’s road from a 17th-century European colony to a 20th-century North-American nation. This commemoration was proposed by the Valiants Foundation, which also selected the 14 men and women.

The NCC is currently working with the winning design team of a national design competition to complete the monument for a November 5, 2006 unveiling.

The winning proposal will represent the 14 valiant persons in bronze with combinations of full figures and busts, and will be placed in close vicinity to the National War Memorial, in the heart of Canada’s Capital. These figures will be complemented by a large bronze wall embossed with Virgil’s timeless phrase NULLA DIES UMQUAM MEMORI VOS EXIMET AEVO (No day shall ever blot you from the memory of time).
