Photo Gallery
Our photo gallery contains a variety of digitized images representative of
the diversity found among the 520 000 negatives in the Photo Collection of the
Geological Survey of Canada. Numbers associated with the images are those assigned
to the original negatives. The selection has been made from both historic and
modern photographs relating to surveys and studies carried out by Survey scientists
during the course of its 150 year history. The digitization of selected photographs
is an ongoing project.

The Map Gallery is composed of selected Geological Survey of Canada maps. The
map images, presented in thumbnail form, are combined with web-based viewer
technology, allowing the user to adjust the size of the image, zoom in, zoom
out and pan the scanned document. Access to the images is done through the GEOSCAN
database using a search interface, ensuring only records with scanned images
are retrieved.
These map images resulted from a ResSources GSC project, known as
MIRAGE.
