Northern Resources Development Program

The Northern Resources Development Program is one of the Earth Science Sector's Priority Programs.

Responsible development of mineral and energy resources will be the basis for future economic sustainability and quality of life for northern Canadians, many of whom are First Nations or Inuit. The NRD program will assist northern Canadians in attaining economic self-sufficiency, social stability and improved quality of life.

Construction of comprehensive, regional mineral and energy geoscience knowledge frameworks will catalyze responsible economic development through new private sector investment in exploration, and contribute to the development of the knowledge, skills and capacities needed by northerners to create employment opportunities in the northern communities.
