GEological Mapping System (GEMS)

The Geological Mapping System (GEMS) software package is mainly comprised of a graphical user interface that utilizes ArcInfo and customized commands for geological map production. This page allows users to download the latest version of GEMS, any upgrades and/or patches.

Download GEMS files

Download the latest version of GEMS and follow the installation instructions in the readme [DOC, 325.6 kb] file also included in the GEMS package. Be sure to apply the latest patches once you have installed this package.

Please note that pre-release packages are available to users who are aware of what the package includes. Please do not install the pre-release version if you do not need it.

Download the latest patch, which includes the latest updates plus all previous patch files, and follow the installation instructions included in the GEMS package mentioned above.

Need help or having problems with GEMS?

Contact the employee in charge of GEMS.

If you encounter a bug (AML error or otherwise) please perform the following:

  1. Turn echo of AML on (AML Settings)
  2. Open a new watch file (AML Settings)
  3. Try a re-create the bug or error
  4. Close the watch file (AML Settings)
  5. Email the watch file along with a brief description of the problem you are having
