Biography
- Elected the Member of Parliament for Hamilton Mountain in 2006
- A long-time community activist, Chris has been involved in such diverse efforts as fighting the privatization of health care, saving urban green space, and bringing back real rent control
- Introduced a motion, adopted by Parliament, calling on the government to protect seniors’ rights, including free dental and pharmacare
- Organized seniors to fight the government’s fee increase for long-term care
- Former delegate to the Hamilton and District Labour Council
- Former Director of Government and Community Relations at the national office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada in Burlington
- Lives on Hamilton Mountain with her husband, Brian Charlton, a former NDP MPP and Ontario Cabinet Minister
