The Testing, Experimentation and Technology
Transfer in Forestry Program (TETTF), established under the
Canada-Quebec Subsidiary Agreement on the Economic Development
of the Regions of Quebec, was launched in 1991 and ended March
31, 1998.
Most projects have been completed. The LFC Policy and Liaison
Directorate will monitor those projects still in progress
and complete the transfer of the results of projects carried
out under the program.
Since 1991, over $17 million
has been allocated to applied research and technology transfer.
The areas of application covered are:
- forestry management tools
(geomatics, remote sensing, GPS, etc.);
- equipment testing (mechanization
of operations, adaptation of machinery, etc.);
- silvicultural operations (forestry practice,
natural and artificial regeneration);
- others (research, other
forest resources, etc.).
This program also underwrites
technology transfer (eg. Carrefour de la recherche) and popularization
(eg. Service d'extension en foresterie de l'est du Québec)
operations.
