The Model Forest Program

The Model Forest Program is an initiative aimed at building partnerships at the local, national and international levels in order to find practical solutions to sustainable forest management issues.

The program has established a network af eleven model forests that represent the principal forest regions in Canada.

Natural Resources Canada’s Canadian Forest Service is planning to launch a Forest Communities Program in April of 2007. This new program will appeal to local organizations across Canada interested in assisting resource-based communities in the development of innovative approaches to meet the challenges of forest sector transition and forest resource sustainability.
