New U-Pb SHRIMP results from the THO north flank TGI 2 project

Inherited and detrital zircons from rocks in the the South Indian Lake area suggest that early Paleoproterozoic basement underlies parts of central Manitoba. This underlying crustal block may be an extension of the Sask Craton, identified from small exposures in central Saskatchewan, although the ages of the inherited and detrital zircons vary from the crystallization ages of known Sask Craton rocks.
