Forest Research Biologist

Forest Research Biologists at NRCan may be required to:

  • Identify research opportunities; plan, develop and conduct forest biology/ecology research
  • Review and evaluate scientific literature to maintain an awareness of current and new research methodologies in forest biology/ecology
  • Gather, compile and analyze data from several aspects of biological experiments; write progress and final reports on experiments; present data and reports and publish articles in scientific journals; develop seminars and workshops
  • Prepare research proposals; provide advice on forest biology research.

Laboratory Services Biologist

Laboratory Services Biologists at NRCan may be required to:

  • Plan, conduct and provide analyzes of biological material and interpret results of analyzes
  • Set work priorities for laboratory analyzes, select and adapt known methods for laboratory analyzes and train scientists, technicians and students to use available technology
  • Gather, compile and analyze data from investigations; identify and maintain collections of plants, insects, microorganisms and other biological material
  • Review scientific literature to maintain an awareness of current trends in laboratory analyzes of biological materials
  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained; provide guidelines for safety in analytical laboratories.

Molecular Research Biologist

Molecular Research Biologists at NRCan may be required to:

  • Identify research opportunities and plan, develop and conduct molecular biology research, contributing to S&T network deliverables
  • Gather, compile, analyze and interpret data; write scientific reports, develop seminars and workshops; present data and reports at national and international scientific meetings and conferences
  • Prepare research proposals; provide advice and expertise on molecular biology research, including recommendations on specialized equipment used in research
  • Identify, develop and adapt methodologies and experimental approaches; review scientific literature to maintain a knowledge of current and new research methodologies and develop expertise in molecular and cellular biology.
