Glossary of remote sensing terms

Term: Cross-pol ratio

Definition:

For a sample or a group of samples, the cross-pol ratio is the ratio of the power received on a cross-pol channel to that received on the associated co-pol channel.

Explanation:

For example, if an H-pol signal is transmitted, and H and V are received, the cross-pol ratio would be the power ratio of HV/HH. Its accuracy can be adversely affected by channel crosstalk.

Related Terms:

Channel crosstalk
Channel imbalance
Cross-pol isolation
