EnerGuide for Gas Fireplaces uses the well-recognized EnerGuide label to provide a consistent way to show the fireplace efficiency (FE) rating. The FE rating is obtained through testing to the CAN/CSA-P.4.1-02 standard, entitled "Testing Method for Measuring Annual Fireplace Efficiency." The testing of vented gas fireplaces is required by federal law.
EnerGuide for Gas Fireplaces is industry-managed by the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) through an agreement with Natural Resources Canada. Manufacturers and dealers are authorized to use the EnerGuide mark and label in their various publications about their products and on company Web sites. There is no requirement for an EnerGuide label to be placed directly on the fireplace.
To obtain the EnerGuide mark and label, or for more information, call HRAI at 1 800 267-2231 or (905) 602-4700.
