Socioeconomics

Research in this area focuses on

  • exploring the diverse values of forests (timber and non-timber);
  • finding methods to measure, analyze, and integrate these values directly into the decision-making process;
  • identifying social and economic indicators of sustainable development and exploring the means to measure and monitor them;
  • analyzing statistics and indicators of community sustainability; and
  • examining policies that influence the use of forests and how these policies contribute to the sustainability of communities.
