The NCC plays a significant role in transportation planning in Canada’s Capital Region. With the region encompassing parts of Ontario and Quebec, the NCC has a unique planning mandate with interests that transcend municipal and provincial boundaries. The NCC works closely with the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau and the provincial governments to ensure effective, cooperative, integrated and sustainable transportation planning in the region. In this context, the NCC is a leader and partner in several important studies, which include, interprovincial rapid transit, future interprovincial crossings, transport data collection and analysis, as well as the development of sustainable transportation strategies.
