The Ville de Gatineau and the NCC are currently working on a joint concept for the improvement of the waterfront area of Jacques-Cartier Street, between Lady-Aberdeen Bridge and St-Louis Street in Gatineau. The project aims to enhance the quality of life of residents and the visitor experience.
The concept proposes a scenic access to the Capital, a new recreational pathway as well as improvements to and naturalization of the shorelines of the Ottawa and Gatineau rivers.
The Ville de Gatineau and the NCC conducted a public meeting on February 21, 2006. Participants had the opportunity to meet and speak with members of the joint team about the project, hear a presentation about the concept given by the consultant, and ask questions, share their comments, thoughts and recommendations on the proposed concept .
Next Steps:
- Step 1: Following the consultation, comments received will be analyzed and a public consultation report will be prepared.
- Step 2: The concept will be updated and the final report as well as the public consultation report will be presented to the Ville de Gatineau and the NCC for approval.
- Step 3: A schedule outlining the various implementation studies required will be made public.
