Jacques-Cartier Park is a green oasis in the heart of the Capital region. It is an important leisure area and gathering place, and its revitalization, undertaken by the NCC, will mainly improve access, upgrade the recreational pathways and regenerate the vegetation. The work, beginning in August 2005, includes the following:

  • creating a new pedestrian entrance in the north end of the Park and improving the existing entrances
  • planting trees and grass, and adding flowerbeds
  • realigning and widening the Voyageurs Pathway and creating secondary paths
  • improving access and landscaping at the Maison Charron
  • adding lighting and street fixtures (benches, a drinking fountain, etc.)

The work will take place from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday.

A section of the Voyageurs Pathway, between Verdun and Saint-Étienne streets, will be closed for a portion of the construction period. Laurier Street can be used as an alternate route. Access to certain areas of the Park will be limited on occasion. Watch the signs and please be careful!

The work should be completed by the spring of 2006. The NCC is making every effort to minimize the inconvenience caused by these activities, and thanks you for your understanding. For any questions or comments that you may have, please do not hesitate to contact us.
