The NCC has organized the Meeting with Interest Groups since 2002. The goal of this meeting is to gather ideas from interest groups in order to support the NCC in achieving its mandate, as well as to bring together the members of these groups with the NCC’s board of directors.

The interest groups communicate their ideas to the board of directors through oral presentations, which are often supported by visual aids. These ideas feed the discussions during the NCC’s annual strategic planning process. They are also regularly considered during the planning process of different projects and during public consultation exercises.

This year, the Meeting with Interest Groups was held on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Christ Church Cathedral Hall in Ottawa. Seventeen groups submitted briefs on various subjects, including interprovincial transportation, recreational pathways and Gatineau Park.

We thank all the interest groups for participating in the meeting and for presenting their ideas to the members of the NCC's board of directors.
