EE Corporate Leadership Development InitiativeDear Colleagues, In response to the ever-present and growing need to prepare public servants-particularly those within the Employment Equity (EE) community who may oversee operational or functional program delivery-for greater leadership responsibilities, the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada (PSHRMAC) is pleased to invite your Department to participate in an Employment Equity Corporate Leadership Development Initiative (EECLDI). This initiative reflects the Public Service of Canada's commitments to employment equity, strength through diversity, and a representative workforce at the senior management level. All costs related to this initiative will be the responsibility of PSHRMAC (evaluation, travel etc.) The overall objective of the EECLDI is to provide an opportunity for entry into leadership development to highly skilled public servants (EX minus 1 to 3) within the EE community who strive to attain the abilities and competencies required for higher organizational levels. These individuals have a desire to seek new challenges and opportunities and to embrace new ideas, perspectives and experiences. In short, these candidates demonstrate potential to become future leaders of the Public Service. To that end, the EECLDI addresses the specific learning and developmental needs of identified participants and provides individualized counselling, advice and guidance tailored to suit their present and future leadership development needs. This process will provide participants an opportunity to reflect on ways to focus and manage their developmental objectives to attain their career goals. Participants will continue to work at their current position within their department/agency while they are involved in this initiative. Attached, you will find the call letter and the nomination form for selected candidates. To guide you in responding to this invitation, a description of each phase of the project (Identifying candidates, evaluating the candidates, receiving feedback and next steps) is included in the call letter. All nominations must be received by November 30th 2006. This initiative is a great opportunity to offer support to your high-potential candidates from the EE community in the development of their leadership skills. We are looking forward to your collaboration and support in making this a success. Yours sincerely, Michael Cavanagh |
