CANMET-MMSL conducts R&D on a wide range of methods, processes and technologies involved in mining and processing ore into a concentrate, mineral product or metal. Addressing associated environmental issues is a key component in our research. CANMET-MMSL, as a scientific organization with close links to other government departments, can offer a unique coordinating position for projects involving industry, universities and non-governmental organizations.

CANMET-MMSL works on contracts with individual clients to address their particular problems or interests. We also work with multi-partner consortia to address issues of common interest, with multiple clients sharing the costs and the technical results.

CANMET-MMSL transfers its technologies and expertise to Canadian and international clients by partnering in a number of ways including:
