Application Process

No additional rounds of funding are planned under the Broadband Pilot Program at present.

A publication entitled Guidelines for Applicants was created to guide applicants and to answer many of the criteria and process questions that might come to mind when considering an application to the Funding Program.

Before you begin, please contact the Broadband Program Office representing your province or territory to discuss your project idea. A Project Officer will be pleased to advise you on the eligibility of your group and project, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with advice on how to complete your application.

Application Review

Applications are first reviewed by Broadband Program staff to make sure they are eligible for funding. All submissions for funding will be assessed by an arm’s length National Selection Committee (NSC) that will also consider input from the provinces and territories. The Minister of Industry on the advice of the NSC will make final selections. The number of submissions funded will depend on the quality of submissions and the availability of funds.

For further assistance in the preparation of applications, please refer to: Tips for Applicants.

Notification

If your application is selected you will be contacted to complete a Contribution Agreement. Contribution Agreements will outline in detail the terms and conditions by which projects will be funded, including the amount of federal funding to be provided, project milestones, payment schedules (cash flow requirements) and anticipated results.

No payments will be made for costs incurred before the Contribution Agreement has been signed.

If your application is not selected, you will be informed in writing. Feel free to contact your Broadband Program Office for more information.
