Saskatchewan Programs:
Saskatchewan EnerGuide for Houses Retrofit Grants:
The Province of Saskatchewan announced it is extending the
Saskatchewan EnerGuide for Houses program
until March 31, 2011.

The Province will provide a grant to qualifying homeowners to a maximum of $5,000 per homeowner.

To qualify, you must complete the EnerGuide for Houses pre-retrofit (or “D”
audit) evaluation, your retrofits,
and the post-retrofit (or “E” audit) evaluation. Your pre-retrofit evaluation will provide you with a list of recommendations
for your home and applicable grant values.

If you have already had a pre-retrofit evaluation completed, your post retrofit evaluation must be
completed within 18 months of the pre-retrofit evaluation to qualify for the grant.

Grant applications are handled by the EnerGuide for Houses
service organizations.

Homeowners also qualify for the federal ecoENERGY Retrofit Initiative introduced
on April 1, 2007.

Energy Efficient Rebate for New Homes:

The Energy Efficient Rebate for New Homes is an incentive for Saskatchewan residents who purchase or register either
an ENERGY STAR® qualified or R-2000 certified new home
between April 1, 2007 and March 31, 2008.

Homeowners have the potential to receive up to $2,400 in rebates. Rebates include:

$1,000 for the purchase of an ENERGY STAR® qualified or R-2000 certified home, plus
-
$1,000 for the installation of a
solar domestic
hot water heating system,

$150 for the installation of a
drain water heat
recovery system, and/or
-
$100 for the installation of one qualifying
natural gas appliance or $250 for two qualifying natural gas
appliances. Qualifying natural gas appliances include:
clothes dryers, barbecues, cooktops, and ranges.

January 21, 2007 the Federal government announced its intention to create a new four year program; the
ecoENERGY Retrofit Initiative. ecoENERGY
Retrofit is a targeted financial incentive program to help Canadians
retrofit their homes, buildings and industrial processes. This
program will begin April 1, 2007 and be available until March 31,
