Number: AV06-044 Date: 12 October 2006 PurposeThe purpose of this advisory is to bring attention to the recent security patches released by Sun to address multiple vulnerabilities in Apache 1.3 for Solaris. AssessmentThe security patch will address two vulnerabilities in Apache 1.3 for Solaris versions 8, 9 and 10: The first issue, a vulnerability in the mod_rewrite Apache HTTP server module (CVE-2006-3747), may allow a local or remote unprivileged user to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the Apache 1.3 process, or cause a Denial of Service (DoS) to the Apache HTTP process. The Apache process normally runs as the unprivileged user "nobody" (uid 60001). REF: http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2006/3017 Affected Apache Versions: - Apache versions 1.3.28 through 1.3.36
- Apache versions 2.0.46 through 2.0.58
- Apache versions 2.2.0 through 2.2.2
The second issue, a Cross Site Scripting (CSS or XSS) vulnerability in the mod_imap Apache HTTP server module (CVE-2005-3352), may allow a local or remote unprivileged user to steal cookie information, hijack sessions, or cause a loss of data privacy between a client and the server. REF: http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2005/2870 Affected Apache Versions: - Apache versions 1.3.0 through 1.3.34
- Apache versions 2.0.35 through 2.0.55
