RCMP Red Deer participates in Provincial Gun AmnestyRed Deer, Alberta (October 10, 2006) Red Deer City RCMP is very committed to embracing the Provincial Gun Amnesty, a Crime Prevention Strategy of the Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security and Alberta Justice, as another great opportunity to provide for “safe homes and safe communities” in the community of Red Deer. The Provincial Gun Amnesty Initiative, which runs from October 1st - 31st, 2006 is aimed at preventing firearms and other materials from reaching the hands of criminals. The program will enable citizens to surrender their unwanted firearms, ammunition or other weapons in a safe and controlled manner with the assistance of Red Deer City RCMP. The amnesty will include firearms that are:
The amnesty will also include ammunition and other weapons (i.e. illegal martial arts weapons, etc.) In order to best serve the community of Red Deer in this initiative, Red Deer City RCMP has established a phone line that can be accessed between October 1 - 31, 2006:
