The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of Air Hogs RC Skywinder Radio-Controlled Airplanes. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.The rechargeable battery pack inside the toy airplane can overheat posing a burn hazard.

Health Hazard Advisory: Consumers Cautioned to Inspect Powder Infant Formula Cans

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Mead Johnson Nutritionals are advising the public that some cans of Mead Johnson powder infant formula found at stores in the Windsor, Ontario area have been tampered with. One can has been found to contain what is believed to be a detergent.

July 25, 2006

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of Hampton Bay Transitional Collection Fire Truck and Bulldozer Accent Lamps with Night Lights. Consumers should stop using them immediately unless otherwise instructed. The glass window of the fire truck and bulldozer night light can become dislodged, fall and shatter into small pieces. This poses a laceration hazard and a serious risk of injury if ingested by a small child.

Sears Canada Issues Voluntary Safety Recall for the Dora the Explorer Bingo Game

June 27, 2006

Sears Canada is warning consumers in Quebec of a potential hazard relating to Dora the Explorer Bingo Game. The age rating shown on the box is incorrect. It says two to six years of age, but it should say three to six years of age. The game contains small pieces that may be swallowed by children under the age of three.

The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) Warns Jump Rope For Heart Lava Lamps Are a Potential Fire Hazard.

The Lava Lamps were a thank-you prize offered to students who reached Level 4 in the Jump Rope for Heart program. There is the possibility that the liquid in the Lava Lamps can leak out of the top part of the lamp. If the lamp is plugged into the wall and turned on this can cause sparks and a potential fire hazard.

Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc. has announced a quality and possible safety advisory on Sandra cribs, model number 04530-32N+. During recent testing, one crib was found to have an opening between two spindles on an end board that was greater than 60mm. This can potentially allow the child's body to pass through.

Health Canada is alerting parents and caregivers of the hazards small, loose magnets pose to young children. A wide range of children's products such as magnetic building toys, alphabet and number magnets, science or craft kits, board games, vehicle sets, even plush toys, may contain small magnets. In addition, small magnets attached to other items, such as magnetic jewellery and fridge magnets, pose a potential problem if they become disengaged from the item.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and PTI Sports Inc., of Coral Gables, Fla., are recalling about 14,000 Deluxe Bicycle Child Carriers. If the seat is not fully seated on the rack, the plastic guide tabs on the carrier can break. If these tabs break, it could cause the seat to fall off. The First Years, a subsidiary of RC2 Corporation, is recalling four styles of liquid-filled infant teethers due to possible bacterial contamination.
