Canada Economic Development Priorities for Abitibi-Témiscamingue

1)   SME development

  • To foster the emergence of SMEs in secondary and tertiary natural resource processing activities.
  • To establish innovative enterprises in the new information technologies sector.
  • To improve the competitiveness of manufacturing SMEs.
  • To support the international visibility of SMEs.
  • To create businesses for young people, women and Aboriginals.
  • To create businesses in the environmental and sustainable development industry related to natural resources.

2)    Improvement of the economic development environment

  • To enhance regional competitive advantages in the mining, forestry, agri-food, environmental and new information technologies sectors.
  • To support the implementation of an efficient telecommunications network.
  • To develop tourism potential by structuring regional tourism supply and expertise.
  • To support the mobilization of local stakeholders with respect to diversification and the emergence of concrete economic development projects.
  • To support strengthening of local leadership in the mining industry.

3)    Specific initiative

In keeping with its priorities, CED, together with its network of partners, offers SMEs a variety of programs and services.
