Yukon Search and Rescue

In Yukon, ground and inland water SAR services are provided through a partnership between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) "M" Division, the Emergency Measures Organization of Yukon Government (EMO), and Volunteer SAR Teams.

All of the partners are critical to the success of providing search services: the RCMP have the legal jurisdiction in the Yukon for ground and inland water searches outside of National Parks: Emergency Measures Organization provides support to our partners through the provision of training, equipment and funding. The Volunteer SAR teams provide motivated, trained and equipped volunteers with local knowledge.

Over the past number of years, many SAR incidents have been responded to in the Yukon and Northern British Columbia, primarily in remote and mountainous terrain. During these responses it has been the dedication of the Yukon Search and Rescue volunteers that make all the difference.
