The Department of Community Resources (DCR) funds ten women's shelters which provide emergency safe housing for women and children. These shelters are located in Moose Jaw, Swift Current, North Battleford, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Yorkton and three Regina locations. Indian and Northern Affairs Canada funds shelters in Meadow Lake and Fort Qu'Appelle. The North East Crisis Centre and the West Central Crisis Centre have developed safe homes for women who need to leave their home immediately. These homes provide a short-term stay until a woman can decide her next step or can relocate to a women's shelter.

Outreach services funded through DCR assist women who need help in accessing a shelter or other services. Outreach workers also provide public education on abuse and services available in the local community. DCR funds nine sexual assault counsellors working out of 24 hour crisis centres.

The Government of Saskatchewan is working in partnership with communities, families and individuals to foster family relationships free of violence and abuse. Community groups, organizations and government are working at the community level as well as at the provincial level to address systemic issues that contribute to family violence.
