The program provides
intervention from family violence issues using a holistic approach that involves the
physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well being of individuals who are caught up in
the cycle of family violence. It targets people who are experiencing problems with family
violence, substance abuse or are suffering from emotional pain.
Program Objectives
- Provide individual, family or group counselling to heal from
the effects of abuse, using methods appropriate to the unique backgrounds of the people we
serve;
- Provide a safe environment in which confidentiality is
respected;
- Provide support in a non-threatening manner;
- Provide intervention and alternative ways to deal with anger
and frustration; and
- Adopt a family approach to healing.
Services Offered in 2002/2003
- Educating individuals, families and groups about the effects
of family violence in relation to Aboriginal people;
- Working as a team with staff of the Saskatoon Indian and
Metis Friendship Centre;
