Healthy Environments

Physical, biological and chemical hazards, natural or manmade, in the environment can have detrimental effects on people’s health and well-being. Through inspection, surveillance, assessment, education and the enforcement of the Health Protection and Promotion Act 1990 and its associated regulations, Ottawa Public Health strives to prevent or reduce potential adverse health outcomes related to these environmental hazards. Thus protecting your health and making Ottawa a safer, healthier place to live, work and play.
