Inspections and Testing

Ottawa Public Health is mandated under the Health Protection and Promotion Act 1990 to inspect a wide range of premises to protect the health and well being of Ottawa residents. We conduct routine air quality monitoring in arenas and investigate air quality related complaints in rental residential units and public places. We also test food samples, both on a routine and complaint related basis. Ottawa Public Health facilitates bacterial quality testing of drinking water for residents on private wells, interprets the results and provides guidance on any corrective action necessary. During the summer months we also monitor the bacterial quality of water at designated public beaches within the city’s boundaries.

If you have any questions, please call Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744 ext. 23748.
