Safe Schools Manitoba Safe Schools Manitoba

Safe Schools Manitoba is a partnership initiative of organizations committed to working together to enhance the safety and security of Manitoba's school communities. It serves youth, parents, school administrators, teachers, counsellors, school trustees, and a range of community agencies. Safe Schools Manitoba is supported financially by the governments of Manitoba and Canada, and by the RCMP.

The Manitoba Safe Schools Council is comprised of representatives from government, education, law enforcement, social service agencies, youth, parents and community agencies. Members of the Council assist in identifying emerging issues and resources, and promoting the work of the Council within their organizations. The Board of Directors is drawn from the Council, representing the various groups and organizations, working as a sounding board for questions and suggestions from the Council, and offering input and direction. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Provincial Coordinator carries out the objectives of the Council; provides assistance to individuals and organizations in school communities; promotes awareness of available resource people and materials; supports the development and implementation of policies, practices, and programs; and coordinates training and conferences on school safety issues.

Safe Schools Manitoba is housed in the offices of the Manitoba Association of School Trustees.
