Minister of Transport

Michel Després, Member for Jean-Lesage

The Minister of Transport oversees the highway system in the Montréal region and monitors the Greater Montréal Area Transportation Management Plan.

The Minister of Transport is also responsible for:

• trucking;
• road safety;
• land transportation of people (public, paratransit, intercity, school bus, and taxi transportation);
• the Société d'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ);
• the Commission des transports du Québec;
• the Agence métropolitaine de transport.

The Minister for Transport is responsible for Québec’s entire highway and local road network, including the planning, programming and realization of road work.

The Minister is also responsible for:

• regional transportation plans;
• the application of the Act respecting off-highway vehicles;
• the application of the Act respecting the Société des traversiers du Québec.
