The Abitibi-Témiscamingue Business Contact economic facilititation event was held at the Hôtel Amosphère in Amos on Thursday, September 15, 2005. Organized by the Société d’aide au développement des collectivités (SADC) Harricana and Canada Economic Development’s Abitibi-Téminscamingue Business Office, it drew more than 250 entrepreneurs and economic stakeholders.

Through lectures, workshops and meetings with Government of Canada representatives, participants obtained information on starting up a business, growth, exports, innovation and productivity. Topics targeted specifically for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region included forestry  (secondary and tertiary wood processing), agri-food and water.

During the three days preceding the Business Contact, Government of Canada representatives visited 32 enterprises in the region and gave seven seminars to local entrepreneurs and economic stakeholders.
