Business Contact, an economic facilitation event, was held in La Malbaie this past October 15th. Organized by the Charlevoix Community Futures Development Corporation and Canada Economic Development’s Québec – Chaudière-Appalaches business office, the event drew 230 entrepreneurs from the areas of Charlevoix, Côte-de-Beaupré and Île-d’Orléans.

Through conferences, workshops and meetings with Government of Canada representatives, this event enabled entrepreneurs to obtain information on business startup, growth, export, innovation and strategic information. Additional focus was also placed on such regionally-based themes as the bio-food sector, natural resources (forests) and tourism.

The Community Action portion of the event, co-ordinated by the Canadian Rural Secretariat, enabled community-based social organizations to take part in a number of workshops given by specialists from Government of Canada departments and agencies.

Pierre Mazières, President of the Charlevoix Community Futures Development Corporation and Christian Audet, Director of Canada Economic Development’s Québec – Chaudière-Appalaches business office, officially kicked off the event in the morning.
