The Sun: It's Up To You to Protect Yourself

Protect Your Child from the Sun

  • Limit your child’s time in the sun especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • When outside look for a shady place to play.
  • Apply sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection (SPF 15 or more) 15-30 minutes before going outside.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours. More often if the child is swimming or sweating.
  • Cover your child’s skin with loose-fitting, tightly woven, light-weight clothing.
  • Use a wide-brimmed hat to protect your child’s face, ears and neck.
  • Protect your child’s eyes with sunglasses that are CSA approved.
