Exporting and marketing

 

Exporting is good for the economy, being paid is good for the exporter

Frank Trentadue has 10 years of experience in banking and in business development and financing. He holds a bachelor’s degree in administration from McGill University where he taught in the administration program. He also has an MBA in international trade from Clemson University in the United States.

Jacques Fleury joined Industry Canada in 1983. He has devoted 22 years advising Quebec SMEs on international exporting, access to European markets, finding a distributor partner and marketing manufactured goods abroad. Jacques Fleury has been with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service for the past 10 years. His task is to match Quebec supply and European demand by helping his clients develop new markets in Europe.

Conference summary:

Export Development Canada (EDC) is a Canadian financial institution which for 60 years has been devoted exclusively to providing trade finance services to support Canadian exporters and investors in some 200 markets.

EDC risk-management services credit insurance, bonding and guarantees have become an integral part of the global strategy of Canadian enterprises, regardless of their size or industry sector. Mr. Trentadue explained how EDC can help companies and/or their clients maximize their export transactions in Asian markets.

Mr. Fleury spoke of the network of Canadian trade commissioners as a springboard to the global marketplace. He provided participants with trade information on world markets and on how to obtain customized export and financing assistance.
