Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must fully demonstrate in their application that they meet all of the minimum qualifications.

Education:

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position or eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position

Experience:

Significant and recent experience in one or more of the following aeronautical engineering discipline related to the functions of the positions:

  • Project Management
  • Continuing Airworthiness
  • Delegations and Quality
  • Aircraft Structures
  • Avionics and Electrical Systems
  • Electronic Equipment Design Assurance
  • Fuel and Hydromechanical Systems
  • Occupant Safety and Environmental Systems
  • Powerplants and Emissions
  • Regulatory Standards

Citizenship:

Preference will be given to Canadian citizens. Functions:

The Division acts as a technical resource for the major functions of the Aircraft Certification Branch. The main activity is the Type Certification of Canadian designed and manufactured aeronautical products to support Canadian industry in obtaining foreign certification of their products. Another activity is the type design validation of aeronautical products certified by foreign regulatory authorities.

The Section's main functions consist of:

  • Type certification of domestic products and subsequent support to the Companies in obtaining foreign type certification;

  • Certification of foreign products for use in Canada;

  • Participation in the development of standards, policy and guidance material for the Transport Canada aircraft certification activities;

  • Support to the Transport Canada regional organizations in their activities including Supplemental Type Certification;

  • Participation in Canadian Aviation Regulation Advisory Council (CARAC), international and national working groups and committees including harmonization forums; and

  • General support to the Engineering Division and Aircraft Certification Branch as required on such tasks as delegation to industry and audits.

About the Organization:

Senior Engineers (Occupant Safety and Environmental Systems) at Transport Canada work within the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Safety and Security Group. The Civil Aviation headquarters directorate determines program contents, policy and standards, while the regions deliver the program. Within the Aircraft Certification Branch of the Civil Aviation Directorate, the Engineering Division is comprised of six technical specialty sections, each related to an aspect of aeronautical engineering. These are: Powerplants and Emissions, Aircraft Structures, Avionics and Electrical Systems, Electronic Equipment Design Assurance, Fuel and Hydromechanical Systems, Occupant Safety and Environmental Systems.
