Influenza Surveillance Activities in New Brunswick
Influenza surveillance is a collaborative effort between
levels of government, laboratories and health care professionals to report
influenza-like illness (ILI).
The main objectives of the influenza surveillance
program are to detect and monitor circulating strains of influenza viruses
and the presence of influenza-like illness in New Brunswick. By having
strains identified, this program is also important in detecting the emergence
of novel influenza viruses and to compare circulating influenza strains
with the coverage of the current influenza vaccine.
