According to a severe but plausible scenario, an influenza pandemic could affect, in successive waves, 35% of the Québec population. This would result in approximately 1.4 million consultations with health professionals, up to 34,000 hospitalizations, and thousands of deaths.

What would be the effect of such a pandemic on our daily lives? Would schools be closed? Would the mass transit system still operate? Would I still be paid if I did not show up for work? There are many questions that remain unanswered for the moment. The only thing that is certain is that, just as in the case of natural disasters, public safety authorities will be responsible for coordinating operations.
