Personal Emergency Preparedness

Did you know that each year in Ontario there are :

  • more than 100 severe summer storms
  • an average of 14 tornadoes
  • yearly floods and forest fires

These natural forces can cause power outages, blocked roads and failed communication services that can last a few hours to a few weeks. These situations may also impact your safety and your health.

While emergency responders will take immediate steps and actions to manage and recover from these and other emergency situations, there are some steps you can take to make sure you are personally prepared. These steps include making a plan and putting together a portable and accessible emergency kit.

Other steps you can take is to learn about preventing the spread of illness and keep informed of new developments in global issues that have health implications.

This section of the web site will provide you with access to this important information. Please use the menu bar on the left side of this page to learn more!
