B.C. Centre for Disease Control
The BCCDC is a provider of specialty health support and resource services for the prevention, detection and control of communicable disease and food, drug and radiation information services. One of BCCDC's defined goals is to share its expertise in disease control with other health care professionals by providing consultation, resource materials, quality training and education programs, and by participating in applied public health research in support of disease prevention and control. Under the Health Act, the Provincial Health Officer is the senior medical health officer for British Columbia and provides independent advice to the Minister of Health, the ministry and the public on public health issues and population health. Each year, the Provincial Health Officer must report publicly, through the Minister of Health to the legislature, on the health of the population. Canadian Food Inspection Agency
