What is a Permit for Equivalent Level of Safety?

With advancements in technology it is important that a regulatory vehicle be in place to expedite the safe transport of dangerous goods. A Permit for Equivalent Level of Safety is a document that allows an individual or company to operate in a manner that is different from what is required by the regulations but that provides an equivalent level of safety.

And a copy should be sent to:

Chief, Dangerous Goods Standards (AARXE)
Civil Aviation, Commercial & Business Aviation
330 Sparks Street, 4th Floor
Place De Ville, Tower C
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0N8
fax: (613) 954-1602

If you require additional information, contact Ron Laviolette by phone at (613) 990-1130 or e-mail at laviolr@tc.gc.ca

A listing of existing Permits for Equivalent Level of Safety and a copy of specific permits are available through the TDG Website.
