John Deere gas barbecue grills recalled
Wednesday, September 13, 2006 | 01:59 PM ET
About 3,100 John Deere gas barbecue grills are being recalled because they pose fire and burn hazards, said the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Consumers are advised to stop using the products immediately and contact their John Deere dealer or the Mi-T-M Corp for a free repair kit.
The CPSC advised that in windy conditions, flames can blow under the control panel, causing the grill to overheat. Flames can also damage the hose connecting gas to the burner, causing an uncontrolled flame. The grills knobs are also susceptible to overheating.
The grills, which were manufactured in Canada, were sold through John Deere dealers from March 2006 through August 2006 for about $600.
There has been one reported incident of a person receiving a minor burn when the user touched an overheated control knob.
