PARADIS - VISIT TO ALGERIA

Media representatives are advised that Secretary of State for Latin America, Africa and La Francophonie, Denis Paradis,
will visit Algeria, from April 26 to 29. He will be accompanied by a business delegation led by the Canadian Council on
Africa, an organization made up of Canadian companies that wish to develop business relations with Africa. The Secretary
of State will be hosted by Abdelkader Messahel, the Minister Delegate in Charge of African Affairs.
During his stay, the Secretary of State will meet with the Participation and Investment Promotion Minister, the Energy and
Mining Minister, and the Water Resources Minister. He will also take part in meetings organized for Canadian firms.
This will be the second visit of Secretary of State Paradis to Algeria. In April 2002, he accompanied Prime Minister Jean
Chrétien on his visit to Algiers.
