About the Latin America and Caribbean bureau

AmericasCanada.gc.ca is the Web site of the Latin America and Caribbean bureau of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.

The Latin America and Caribbean bureau helps facilitate intergovernmental relations between Canada and the 33 countries of the region. Through our network of embassies, high commissions and consulates, we also provide emergency travel assistance to Canadians; assist non-Canadians wanting to work, study or live in Canada; and help connect Canadian businesses with opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Latin America and Caribbean bureau and the Government of Canada are committed to enhancing Canada's role within the Americas. They accomplish this by fostering a sense of shared values and by promoting prosperity and democracy.

The Latin America and Caribbean bureau is organized into two divisions:

Brazil, Southern Cone and Inter-American Relations
Caribbean, Central America and Andean Region
