MINISTER PETERSON PROPOSES REAPPOINTMENT OF CCC CHAIR

International Trade Minister Jim Peterson today proposed the reappointment of Alan R. Curleigh as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). The proposed reappointment will be referred to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade for review.

“Mr. Curleigh has done a great job as Chairman of the Canadian Commercial Corporation,” said Minister Peterson. “I am confident that he will continue to distinguish himself in this position.”

Prior to his appointment in November 2002 as Chair of the CCC Board, Mr. Curleigh served as a senior executive member of the Board of TESSAG KSH Ltd., now KSH Solutions Inc., a major international capital projects engineering contracting firm based in Montreal. Mr. Curleigh has been a member of the Board of Directors of Northstar Trade Finance Inc. since 2002 and was a member of the Board of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters from 1996 to 2001, acting as Chair from 1999 to 2001. He was also a member and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Exporters Association from 1988 to 1996.

Mr. Curleigh is currently a visiting faculty member at the Directors College, a joint initiative between The Conference Board of Canada and McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business.

The CCC is an export contracting agency that brings buyers and Canadian exporters together. Since its inception in 1946, the CCC has provided assistance to thousands of companies from across Canada, helping them negotiate more than $30 billion in contracts with foreign governments and private-sector buyers.

The CCC reports to Parliament through the Minister of International Trade.
