With hurricane season now upon us in the Caribbean, there are some simple steps you can take to ensure you are prepared before you leave Canada. - Be sure to have contact information for the Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate in the country you are visiting.
- Register online before you go. This service is provided in the event there is a need to contact Canadians to offer urgent advice during a natural disaster or to inform them of a family emergency at home.
- Consult the Country Travel Report prepared by Consular Affairs prior to departure.
- For more information about preparing to travel overseas, consult the Consular Affairs website.
- After hours, you may place a collect call to Foreign Affairs Canada's Operations Centre in Ottawa at (613) 996-8885 should you require assistance.
