STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF MINISTER RON DUHAMEL

July 19, 2001 (11:25 a.m. EDT) No. 108

STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF MINISTER RON DUHAMEL

Ron Duhamel, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Western Economic Diversification) (Francophonie), is currently undergoing additional medical treatment as a follow-up to the surgery he had two years ago. The Minister was treated for cancer in 1999.

Minister Duhamel has advised the Prime Minister that he intends to continue with his duties and functions as Member of Parliament, as well as those related to his portfolios, while he is undergoing treatment.

Once the treatment is complete, at the end of the summer, his doctor will reassess his condition. Until that time, there will be no further public comment related to Minister Duhamel's health.
