Media representatives are advised that Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham will welcome Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Jorge G. Castañeda, to Ottawa on February 22, 2002.

The two ministers will have an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation, evolving North American relations, and a variety of current and developing hemispheric and international issues. These include implementation of the Summit of the Americas Plan of Action, human rights and security.

Secretary Castañeda's visit will mark the first meeting between the two counterparts since Mr. Graham was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in January 2002.
