GRAHAM CONDEMNS ATTACKS IN PAKISTAN
Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham today issued the following statement after a deadly
attack on Shiite worshippers in Quetta, Pakistan, in which more than 40 people were
reported killed during the commemoration of Ashoura:
"Canadians are appalled by these acts of violence, which coincide with the holiest day
in the Shiite Muslim calendar. I join them in expressing deep sympathy for those who
have lost loved ones or have been injured in these attacks. We hope that the
perpetrators will be brought to justice and urge an end to the rioting this incident has
brought with it."
